Well landed Steam Workshop user!
This page will guide you in the Realistic Colors and Real Night installation process!
Before installing our mod we highly suggest you to take a look to our very unique Technologies that you are going to install!
In order to install correctly RCRN you have to follow the easy 3-step procedure listed below:
Download and Install the RCRN “core file” Optimized for Steam Workshop. (easy one-click installation)You can download it from our official download page or from SkyrimNexus

SUBSCRIBE the mod on the Steam Workshop in order to keep it updated!
(subscribe only 1 version at time, don’t subscribe RCRN-Classic or RCRN-Pure if you installed RCRN-Legacy, and viceversa!)
PLAY and RATE the mod in the Steam Workshop! ![]()
(remember also to add RCRN to the Steam Favorites, and to “endorse” us on SkyrimNexus!)
Remember that with the PAUSE key on your keyboard you can switch between RCRN and default Skyrim in real time during gameplay!
THIS MOD IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH: Realistic Lighting (RCRN doesn’t need it, color correction and more is already included in our packet!)
If you are experiencing crashes, issues or text fuzziness, please read the Frequently Asked Questions listed below:
You’re probably using an old version of the runtime DirectX component, you can update it through the Microsoft website by following this link: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=35
I updated the DirectX component but Skyrim still crashes on the beginning, any advice?
please try to set the Skyrim executable (TESV.exe) to run as administrator. (Right click TESV.exe > Properties > Compatibility > Check “Run this program as administrator.”)
I’ve done all the previous things, but the game is still crashing!
Turn off any on-screen display programs and monitoring tools such as ATI Tray Tools, MSI Afterburner (the new AB beta is compatible with RCRN), GPU-Z, XFire etc. (No issues reported with Fraps, and MSI Afterburner BETA so you can use it without any problem)
How can you disable the RCRN FXAA Antialiasing if you don’t like it? (FXAA may cause the text fuzziness, but it improve greatly your “edges”)
In order to set off Fxaa AA, you have to delete the file the file “Fxaa3_11.h” and then rename the file “Fxaa3_11_RenameMEforFXAAoff.h” to “Fxaa3_11.h“.
Both files are located inside the injFX_Shaders folder placed in your main Skyrim directory.
What in-game Brightness and Contrast settings I should use for RCRN?
None! RCRN is developed to working with the standard values, so please do not mess with the in-game sliders!
What monitor preset i should use with RCRN?
Use the default/text/internet one! RCRN is already calibrated to offer you the best experience available at default settings, please DO NOT USE any “gaming presets”!
If you are still having problems you can also check our Troubleshooting page or the extended FAQs!

Hi, I really like your RCRN mod, but I have a problem
My eyes are not that good with dark areas anymore, even with your Legecy release the nights/dungeons are to dark for me.
The original Skyrim nights and dungeons however are way to brigth to give the night feeling.
Is there a way to adjust the darkness manually? Or can you create a mod with the darkness somewhere between legecy and original Skyrim, please?
Thank you very much for your answer!
Don’t worry! RCRN comes with Customization, you can solve your issue by raising up a bit the gamma value!
After installing Legacy simply open the file “injFX_Settings.h” located in your main Skyrim folder and search for the line “#define Gamma 1.500″ change this value to 1.400 and save. Now your skyrim should be brighter!
How would i access the TESV.exe?
There’s one thing that’s not covered by this guide, I mean switching to another preset. Is it enough to re-run the installer and subscribe to the corresponding preset? Do I need to uninstall RCRN first to remove my current preset? The Legacy one looks pretty balanced to me, but I think I’d check out the other two as well if I knew for sure it wouldn’t mess up anything. Thank you.
If you are using the Steam Workshop remember that Pure, Classic and Legacy can’t be subscribed or installed at the same time! Before switching to a different preset please uninstall the old one and unsubscribe it.
If you are not using the Steam Workshop you can simply uninstall the current preset and install the mod again with another one
For Steam I had to make the “Launcher” runas administrator as well to keep it from crashing on startup. Just thought I would let you know.
